Plans are well underway in the final design phase of the new Greencastle Community Hub. This first phase of the project is a purpose-built area that will have a multi-functional space for recreational, educational, social, cultural and health and wellbeing needs. The project design team headed by APD Architects are working on the brief for the project that has been identified by the local community.
A fundamental principle of the new project is to ensure it is open and accessible to everyone, especially those who may have additional needs. The club are fortunate to have local club man Dermot Devlin involved at this design stage. Dermot – CEO of My Way Access and Disability Advisor has been invaluable in providing input into the design stage of the project. Dermot said “I am delighted to have been asked to be involved in this project and make recommendations for deaf and disabled access and facilities at Greencastle Community Hub, this demonstrates how inclusive the Greencastle Club is and will be in the future. I have been very impressed with Peter Dolan from ADP Architects, especially with the provisions put in place for disabled people, and by Changing Place being a key focus for members and visitors to the building, means we will be welcoming to everyone.
The “GAA For All” space will be the benchmark for all GAA clubs across the county and country, and I’ll continue to offer my support and resources going forward. Not just for wheelchair users, but for all types of disabilities like sensory, learning and neurodivergence.

Dermot`s knowledge and experience has been really helpful and will ensure accessibility and inclusion for all users and visitors.”
An Caisleán Glas Chairman Dominc Douglas said “This new ‘GAA For All’ space will provide an open and accessible facility that will allow all members of our community to take part in recreational, cultural and educational programmes as part of our club activities. The building will be fully inclusive with a particular focus on our youth, those with special needs and older people from the local community of Greencastle. We are delighted to have the skills and expertise of those who know this work best involved in our project.”
Croí an Chaisleáin Ghlais was launched on Friday 23rd June 2023 in Greencastle community centre. Croí an Chaisleáin Ghlais, has the vision for the next 10 years for the local community of Greencastle. The development of the Greencastle Community Hub is in the first phase of the plan.
