Greencastle players compete for places in the 2023 All Ireland 60×30 Juvenile Handball Finals.
On Sunday 26th June, Alice McGlinchey played a fancied Claire Minogue from Co Clare in the u15s and lost on a score line of 15-6 &15-7 . Alice displayed great skill and determination her debut game the 60×30 alley.
On Sunday 3rd July, Tarlach Tracey in the u14 boys singles was up against Sean Considine from Co. Clare and Tarlach was very unlucky to lose out 15-6 & 15 pushing the u14 40×20 All Ireland champion very close and almost forcing a tiebreaker- good effort Tarlach.
Emma Conway contested the u14 singles and was up against a very strong opponent and last years all Ireland champion Amy Brosnan from Cork, with Amy going through to the finals on this occasion. Emma has 2 more years to compete at this grade & the invaluable experience of playing a top player at this level will undoubtedly help Emma’s development as of our most promising rising stars.
In the u16 girls doubles, Caislin Tracey & Lucy McCullagh powered to an impressive victory 21-1 & 21-2 against their Tipperary opponents and will contest the All Ireland final against the Leinster champions Kilkenny, on Saturday 8th July in Cooloney.
Aimee Fox & Maryjo Morris are contesting in the u14 girls doubles finals against Kilkenny in Sligo this Saturday.
Well done to all the Greencastle Juveniles for their efforts in the big alley.
Good Luck to Caislin, Aimee & Maryjo and the rest of the Tyrone finalists in the finals this weekend.
